Spending time with kids makes all the difference
Today there was so much snow it came up to my knees. I was waiting for a friend outside his house when I saw two kids having a snowball fight. Whereas my road was full of children making merry with the weather, these two were on their own. This was a mock imperialist keeping-up-with-the-joneses kind of neighbourhood, populated by people who make up the worst of the middle classes, people who have no time for children, yet complain profusely when those same children inevitably go bad. The snow was largely untouched, and the children were alone. A report published recently said that children are suffering more than ever because adults have become selfish. Adults today are too wrapped up in themselves and simply don’t have the time for children anymore, and that’s what makes all the difference. So I decided to join in with them. Screw being accused of paedophilia, if their parents could not be bothered to spend time with their children, then I would. I actually enjoyed it, as did they. It was only for a short while, but I think it cheered them up.

There's nothing wrong with spending a little extra time with other people's children.
