Mass Psychotherapy

There are many parts of the world that are, not to put too fine a point on it, seriously messed up. Take South Africa as an example. It is a seething mess, a crime ridden shit hole. If it’s not vicious criminals raping like there’s no tomorrow then its mob like vigilante townships collectively setting fire to Zimbabwean immigrants as a form of ‘community justice’. The transition from apartheid and its hateful legacy is not over, and will not be over until every citizen has equal education and opportunity. But this is difficult as millions of chips continue to festoon millions of shoulders like grotesque epaulettes. The crime rate is so high because the life people grow up in is so brutal. Murder, rape and psychopathic violence is a part of everyday life for many of them. So what to do? The best solution I can think of, or have ever thought of, is mass psychotherapy. But I have always thought this impractical; as I am sure have many people. But why should it be? Nations have the money and resources to do extraordinary things, like give education and healthcare to every citizen, govern and defend thousands of individual square miles, and build vast stone causeways (roads) linking every community in the country, and more besides. So, South African, and other similarly afflicted nations, my advice to you is to draft in from across the world as many psychologists as possible, until you have one for every twelve people. Then lie every one of your citizens down on a couch and battle it out until you reduce them to quivering introspective wrecks, forcing them to face and come to terms with whatever horrors they have endured, and then build them back up again. Sometimes when a whole nation is collectively wounded, it needs collective help. It would be a massive task, would cost billions and yet would still be achievable if a little imagination is applied. Nothing less would solve the problem in anything under three generations time.
