Fashion is a form of Hypochondria
I’ve been thinking about fashion, and have decided that it is a universal form of hypochondria. Instead of wearing what we’d all feel comfortable wearing, we feel compelled to wear what everybody else is wearing so as to feel that we are normal. Because if we feel that we are not normal, rather than rejoicing in our individuality, we feel that there is something wrong with ourselves. The same can be applied to some people’s intolerance of those who go against fashion. They fear these people because they think that there is something wrong with them.
